What in the World - Feb 16, 2019

Okay so a lot has happened since I last emailed. I got my assignment to Chuuk and ill be on an outer island called Uman. It has a population of around 5,000, and has no electricity or internet, which means I can only email once a month. Ill be learning Chuukese. My trainers name is Elder Bean and hes been out for 6 months. I'm super excited and a little nervous, but I know the Lord is with me so I have no fear.

Other than that Guam has been amazing. The Assistants left me and Elder Lloyd in a neighborhood last night for 2 1/2 hours where none of the people spoke English so we just walked around and tried to talk to people who could kinda speak English. The people here are all so nice and warm, even though we cant speak their language they invite us inside and give us water. The scenery is beautiful: palm trees, jungle, ocean, and always hot and humid. Sometimes it will randomly rain for like 20 seconds and then be all sunny again. Its awesome.

It is a little hard to adjust from the mtc life into this life where everyone is so different and either Chuukese, Pohnpain, Chamorro, Paloan, or one of other islands. I know that having faith in the Lord will allow me to keep on being strong and not be overwhelmed, but the change is a lot. Hopefully Ill adjust quickly and start learning the language, but it seems a little daunting right now. The biggest thing making me not worry a lot right now is the love that I already feel for the people I'm going to. Its been strange to feel so much love for a people I haven't even met, but its really pulling me through right now.

I love each and every one of you, and pray for your health and happiness. Oh snap and its Valentines day today, just realized that. Love for everyone back home, have faith in Heavenly Father and Christ, they have all the strength you need.

Wow it feels like I just barely emailed, but I'm back on the main island and its been a really good couple of weeks. Elder Tolman and I have been trying to work as hard as we can so that he can have a good last couple weeks and its been paying off. The people have been opening up and we were able to have 2 baptisms on Saturday! I really do think with all of my heart that this island is about blow up. The members are really starting to work with us and do branch activities and minister to those who are little less-active. Lately I've been studying a lot on how to help others feel the Holy Ghost and receive personal revelation. Its been so amazing that as I really focus on the Holy Ghost are much it actually comes into the lessons. You can see it in peoples is eyes when they feel it in their hearts, and then they choose to accept it or deny it. Storms and Chuukese - Mar 3, 2019

Holy Moly a lot has happened since I last said anything. So Uman is amazing, all the people are really nice and accepting, but do have a lot of struggles. I am one of the two white people on the island, the other one being my companion. They think white people are really atutes here and love to come up and smell and kiss my hand, its a little weird. Uman is a poor island - there is trash everywhere and the houses are made out of old tin.  They have literally nothing and just live off the land. We have to go in at 6 every night because all the men just get wasted and then have these slingshots called puchinkos that they shoot metal darts from called phillipenes. The church is really good. We have around 50 people there every week and we had our first baptism on Saturday! His name is Ken and he's just super prepared to be in the gospel. The mission is crazy. Satan Finally Bit Me - Aug 19, 2019

What a couple of weeks this was. It was going so well and then these 2 dogs snuck up on me and bit me right in the Achilles. It just bit down hard and started to rip its head back and forth, and all I could do was kneel down and punch the dog. As I was just standing there a little in shock when 2 Chuukese mammas came over and started to squeeze it as hard as they could and blood started to just pour out. They just kept saying they had to get the blood out so it wouldn't get infected. Then all the sudden this woman comes out with a handful of salt and just slapped it right on there and rubbed it into the bite. To say the least it felt reeeeaaaallllll good. I then had to walk the mile back to our house so we could get service and call the main island to get a boat so I could get some medicine. I couldn't walk for a couple of days but then miraculously It healed so well in literally 2 hours so I could go back out to my island. Overall a weird but awesome blessing. The work on Udo...
