What in the World - Feb 16, 2019

Okay so a lot has happened since I last emailed. I got my assignment to Chuuk and ill be on an outer island called Uman. It has a population of around 5,000, and has no electricity or internet, which means I can only email once a month. Ill be learning Chuukese. My trainers name is Elder Bean and hes been out for 6 months. I'm super excited and a little nervous, but I know the Lord is with me so I have no fear. Other than that Guam has been amazing. The Assistants left me and Elder Lloyd in a neighborhood last night for 2 1/2 hours where none of the people spoke English so we just walked around and tried to talk to people who could kinda speak English. The people here are all so nice and warm, even though we cant speak their language they invite us inside and give us water. The scenery is beautiful: palm trees, jungle, ocean, and always hot and humid. Sometimes it will randomly rain for like 20 seconds and then be all sunny again. Its awesome. It is a little hard to adjust from the...

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Cabin, Prepare for Takeoff - Feb 9, 2019

I can’t believe I’m about to leave the mtc! I leave at 3 am on Monday morning to ship off and arrive in Guam Wednesday. It’ll be a long 22 hours of travel, but I couldn’t be more excited. This week has had a few ups and downs. Me and Elder Lloyd got to teach our last trc, or just practice lessons, on Thursday’s and it was really amazing. We taught this girl named Aubrey. She’s pretty obviously not a member and we were the first missionaries to ever teach her. She had so many questions so for our fist lesson on Tuesday we really just took it slow and got her to understand she has a loving Heavenly Father and how Christ suffered for her. Then in the lesson on Thursday we helped her with any questions and discussed repentance and the remission of sins with her. She really loved the thought of Christ always just there, waiting for her to reach out so he could lift her up. One thing that really stood out to me though is when I explained our purpose to her. We had talked about the importan...

10 Down 8 to Go - Feb 2, 2019

I gotta say I love the mtc, but I’m glad I’m over halfway to leaving. My experience here has been a really great and I’ve learned more here than I think I have in my entire life. Every class I learn how to talk to people and how to be more confident in what I know. It’s just amazing to see how much I learn in such a short amount of time. My district is a really amazing group of sisters and elders. We all got super close after like the first 3 days. I love discussing doctrinal topics with them and going as deep as we can before our minds break and we just end up staring blankly. They ll leave on the 11th, but for some reason I’m leaving a day early on the 10th. I don’t really have much to say about this week, it’s just been a lot of classes and good devotionals. I really love this gospel with all my heart and know it to be true. It’s a never ending experience of turning to our savior Jesus Christ and asking him to help us become clean for all that we’ve done. People all around the world...

Oh how foolish I was - Jan 26, 2019

This is my first email!! The mtc has been exactly what I needed. I came in thinking I was going to just be counting down the days until I left for Guam, which I still am, without ever paying attention. The classes here are great though as really have helped me in every part of my testimony that I was worried about. I know more than I ever have that my savior truly loves me and sacrificed so much just so I could be here. He really does want me to be here, and I’m truly honored to have the opportunity. A few days ago my branch president was talking to us and he said that he’s felt that the savior has walked the halls of the mtc, and I really do believe that now. There’s a spirit that is truly amazing, and it never leaves you. It’s the best. We’ve also been doing a lot of role playing, which i like about half of the time. The food here is perhaps the one part causing my district and zone problems. Last night I went into the restroom and heard an explosion from one of the stalls a...
